About Intermodal Europe 2011

Intermodal Europe 2011

Intermodal Europe is the world’s leading exhibition and conference for all companies associated with the container and intermodal industries.

Organised by Informa Exhibitions, Intermodal Europe is now in its 35th year. The event dates back to its early beginnings in 1976, as the Container Technology Conference (CTC) and has developed and matured alongside the industry it serves.

Intermodal Europe 2011 will to be the biggest ever with visitors able to take advantage of a number of free features, including attending the second annual Tiger Conference – a European Commission backed project for the development of rail transport in competitive and co-modal freight logistics chains. During the session, the Tiger consortium will share its views on the co-modal industrialisation chain from ports to the hinterland destinations and discuss the challenges of growing maritime traffic volumes. Additionally, the exhibition floor will feature the Container Park, where leading companies, including Maersk, Daiken, Gold Container and Valspar, will showcase their latest innovations.

The exhibition hall will feature leading companies including CAI International, Carrier Transicold, Maersk Container Industry and TAL International, who have already signed up to showcase their services. In total, 140 companies will be present at Intermodal Europe, offering visitors the best chance to source the latest technology and solutions to help achieve their business objectives.

As well as finding the latest innovations the industry has to offer, visitors will be able to attend a series of free high-level conference sessions. Two theatres will run on the exhibition floor throughout the three-day show and will feature presentations from leading figures who will discuss some of the most pertinent issues affecting the industry today. As well as offering valuable market information and unique insights into the container transport and logistics sector, visitors who attend the Intermodal Europe conference will also receive industry recognised accreditation.

Confirmed speakers include: Max Strotmann, Member of Cabinet for the European Commission; Lord Tony Berkeley, President of the Rail Freight Association; GJ van den Akker, President of Cargill Ocean Transportation; and Patrick Verhoeven, Secretary General of the European Sea Ports Organisation, discussing topics including the progress of the EU’s ‘Motorways of the Sea’ project, the role of rail in intermodal freight operations and sustainable shipping.
